Getting to your dream home

Your dream home is closer then you think! It might not be now or next year, but soon! Too often I sit down with young people that see mum and dad live in an expensive suburb and they want their house in that area too. What they often don’t realise is that when mum and dad bought there it wasn’t a prestigious suburb at all; at the time they bought it was probably “the outskirts” of Perth. Or if they did buy recently, it’s because they had another property first which they sold to get to where they are now.

Your first home is your stepping stone. Getting in the market, buying where you can afford and ideally in a growing area. Many buyers find that while they first bought into an area because they could only afford there; the longer they live there, the more they like it. Developing area’s are full of young people, young families and are well set up by developers. Generally they are really good to live in. Besides that; developing area’s on the edge of Perth’s metro area show really good growth rates and are often in the top 15 of top performing suburbs in WA. So when you build in such an area, you could be sitting on $100k in equity in a few years. If you were to save up $100k yourself to save up for that bigger home; could you actually do that?

Do look at buying your own home as an investment in your own future as well as a place to live. Ask anyone that build a home 20 or even 10 years ago; do they regret it? What is their home worth now? Don’t decide not to buy or build because you can’t get the dream home you want now. Decide to buy or build because you can’t get the dream home you want now. Building your home is likely the fast track for you to your dream home; take it and you won’t regret it!
